The listing, 1976 Topps #340 JIM RICE (Red Sox Hall of Famer) "All Star Rookie" has ended.
The Boston Red Sox were blessed in left field for decades. In the 1940s and 1950s, the position was played by legend Ted Williams. Williams was replaced by another eventual Hall of Famer, Carl Yastrzemski, and Yaz was replaced by Jim Rice, who was elected into the Hall of Fame class of 2009. Rice was one of only 2 rookies to get Rookie of the Year votes in 1975, losing to teammate Fred Lynn (who also won MVP, while Rice finished 3rd). Rice would not be denied in 1978, when he won the MVP Award. Rice batted .298 for his career (including 7 seasons over .300) ad bashed 382 home runs despite playing less than 15 full seasons, and played in 8 All Star games.
