The listing, New Blue Lapis Lazuli & Sterling Bracelet has ended.
This is a double strand bracelet I made that is 8" and blue lapis lazuli with sterling silver. If bids go to 1000, I will throw in a pair of lapis earrings. If bids go to 2000, I will throw in not only the earrings, but add a really cute size 5 1/2 lapis ring.
It was among the first gemstones to be worn as jewellery. It is a deep blue with golden inclusions of pyrites. Lapis lazuli is an opaque rock that mainly consists of diopside and lazurite. In some cultures, lapis lazuli was regarded as a holy stone. Particularly in the Middle East, it was thought to have magical powers. Lapis lazuli is regarded by many people around the world as the stone of friendship and truth. The blue stone is said to encourage harmony in relationships and help its wearer to be authentic and give his or her opinion openly.
As they did more than 5000 years ago, the best raw stones still come from the steep Hindu Kush in the north-east of Afghanistan. The lumps of blue rock, extracted from the inhospitable mountains by blasting, are brought down into the valley in the summer months by mules. In smaller amounts, lapis lazuli is also found in Italy, Mongolia, the USA and Canada, Myanmar and Pakistan, but in really good qualities it is rare all over. It promotes creativity and awareness and is a wonderful companion to anyone whose employment involves strenuous amounts of communication, such as educators. It has also been useful in overcoming depression, insomnia, and problems associated with the eyes and ears. It promotes a balancing of yin and yang energies and can be used as a physically or psychically protective stone.
