I'm not sure how long they can grow with no soil. I root most of my plants in water (not this one, I divided this from one I bought), and I leave most of them in the water I root them in until the roots outgrow the bottle. Then I put the rooted one in soil, take a clipping from the original plant, and start all over again. Some plants, like Wandering Jew, Pothos, Philodendron, and Sweet Potato Vine, can live in water indefinitely. I guess you could give it a try, and if it starts looking bad, just put it in some soil.
