FREE: Two Advertising Needle Books with Hand Sewing Needles

Up for bid are two old needle books advertising Purity (perhaps Purity Supreme, an old grocery store chain?) and Woburn Co-Operative Bank, which no longer exists. Both needlebooks have wear and tear. The Purity needlebook, which advertises saving "Gold Tapes for Free Gifts" and was made in Japan, has a few random pen marks on it, several folds, and a cut corner that looks like someone tried out her pinking shears on it! It contains six decorative foil sections to hold needles, and a number of needles are still there, as well as another foil area that would have held a needle threader. While not in great shape, it would be a good piece to start a needlebook collection- or for someone who collects advertising pieces.

The other needlebook is from Woburn Co-Operative Bank and gives the address of 6 Common Street, Woburn, Massachusetts (an insurance agency is there now). It contains only one plain (not embossed) red foil section and also has some damage; it looks like someone sewed through it for about an inch and a half! I am relatively new to Woburn and don't know any more about these items. However, the bank one at least predates 1990, because it has "West Germany" stamped into the foil. This one, too, has seen better days but would be a good addition to or start to a collection.

I got these from my neighbor's daughter, who was cleaning out her dad's house after he moved into senior housing.
