Does it require the upper ear to be pierced?or just the lobe?

Just the lobe...The upper part of it clips on the ear..(please refer to pictures)

I think I get why they asked that. I referred to the pic but the one with it on your ear shows the upper part pierced and looks almost like it could've been part of it. But when I looked closely I think u just were wearing a stud on the upper part. But the back pic of the Dragon shows it more clearly. Hopefully I'm correct in that explanation for the princess mama. I really the cuff! :-)
