Description

The listing, OLD 1790s British Conder Halfpenny Token Coin - Vulcan on Obverse! has ended.

This is a great old British Halfpenny Conder token from the 1790s! From about 1780-1812, the British had a severe shortage of small denomination coins, as the government wasn't producing any at that time. Various regions, groups, and private businesses minted their own coins, which were widely circulated and used as real money. The British government banned that practice in 1812, making coins like this one very scarce! See pics for size and condition. Check out my other auctions! I forgot to mention that this token was issued by "John Wilkinson, Iron Master". Also, the rim is engraved around edge with "Bersham Bradley Willey Snedshill" in small letters. Very cool.
