The listing, The Tale of Aang (Avatar, The Last Airbender: The Earth Kingdom Chronicles) Paperback has ended.
My kids (ages 4 and 6) love this book (and the Tale of Zuko, which we are also reading); they have watched the series at least twice, some episodes countless times, and they love having this book read to them-- it reminds them of the shows, and they often excitedly interrupt to talk about what happened in the corresponding shows. It is the same stories as in the series, told from the point of view of Avatar Aang, with his thoughts and motivations and feelings. My older one really related to the chapter on Aang's feeling discouraged when he had trouble learning to earthbend (my son is learning to read in both English and Spanish, and it's a challenge for a 6-year-old; he could really relate to Aang's difficulty, and was inspired when Aang finally got it!), which the book allowed to be much more fleshed out, in terms of Aang's feelings. Also, the chapter on Aang and Katara being lost in the Cave of Two Lovers elicited giggles and even howls of laughter-- there's a lot on Aang really wanting to kiss Katara but putting his foot in his mouth, saying all the wrong things, etc., and they thought it was just hilarious. (Interesting that, as such young kids, they are so interested in the romance aspect of it... I would have thought they were too young to relate, but they love the subplot of Aang having a crush on Katara...)
