This is nicely made pilgrim or top hat for adults (unless the child has an exceptionally large head!). It is made of polyester but almost feels like a stiff felt.

It is 11.5" x 10" x 7.5" - It's pretty good sized!

Why does it look so much taller in the first photo than it does in the second? Which is more accurate? Also, is it gray or black? It looks gray in the photos.

Because the 2nd photo is farther away. As shown on the tag the hat measures 11.5" x 10" x 7.5" with the last being the height. It is black in color - there was a bit too much light when I was taking the pics so it didn't come out quite right. It can work as a top hat or a pilgrim hat. The top is a bit more rounded than a standard top hat so it reminds me more of a pilgrim hat although the tag calls it a top hat. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I didn't even notice the dimensions on the tag in the last photo. My bad. I'm glad I asked about the color, though, because it sure looks gray in the photos.

You're right it does look gray. It's black and sort of a stiff felt like material so having too much light made it reflect back giving it the gray color. Thanks for asking... others may have been wondering as well!
