Description

The listing, 1978 Sears, Roebuck and Co. 10pc Canister Set has ended.

This auction is for a 10pc Canister set made by Sears, Roebuck and Co back in 1978. It is made of ceramic and the design is of women in a colonial times type kitchen. This pieces are not chipped in anyway. They are actually a little dirty so I will attempt to clean them up the best I can before shipment. I will offer free shipping if these go for a bid of 1000 or above. These are a very cute set and I just would love to see them go to someone who would be able to use them. Also if the bidding goes over 1000 I will also add a bonus creamer that is also apart of the set. I do not have the sugar bowl however.

If you're not already doing it, you should post a link to this auction twice a day on the facebook Listia page ! Also on the 'Trading Antiques on Listia' page! If enough people see this, it should skyrocket! Very nice auction!

These are wonderful. I would love them in my kitchen. Im new to Listia and have been trying to think of something I could auction, I have a bunch of the vineyard theme, kitchen stuff, from picture frames and wall art to recipe boxes. I should put all that up for auction. Thank you for the idea.-- Does anyone know what the little plus symbol is on the comment boxes and why it says " thank you" when I click it? Just curious! :)

I have fanned you. I'm not sure what the plus sign means sorry if I figure it out I'll let you know. Yeah you should look around you house..you will surely find some stuff. My thing is I would rather see someone use the things I have than having it sit somewhere being stored forever. Hey you never know I might be bidding on some of your vineyard stuff I'm trying to remodel my kitchen and want Tuscany style things so if you're not using that stuff then share the wealth..hehe..anyway that's for the support

Quick question- do they seal shut? Meaning, do they have a rubber band like seal around the lids to keep the contents fresh?? Thanks!
+1
Jun 25th, 2011 at 8:00:18 PM PDT by
Original
They are all ceramic no rubber. I suppose if you wanted to add rubber to it, I think it would be possible. What I would do if you are are worried about that is keep the Flour, sugar, coffee..ect. in the bags they come in. That's what I do with my canisters.

An earlier comment suggested you put them on Listia Facebook and that's a good idea. However, they are not eligible for "antique" status. They would have to be at least 100 years old to qualify. Thought you should know; I found out the hard way and had to retract an offer based on this information--not on Listia--it was elsewhere.

Fyi you can go to the usps website to estimate the cost of shipping. It's based on weight and the zipcodes.Clicking the + on the comments means other people agree with your comment.Love your auction. Will definitely be watching and bidding too.

So since the bids are over 2000 will you cover the shipping at this point?
Jul 2nd, 2011 at 7:57:11 AM PDT by

If the person who wins wants to use them, and needs a seal, they could simply use a tube of silicone sealant and make a continuous bead around the outer lip of the lid, That would make an airtight seal and still make these functional. Fanning you too!

Kestral thats a great idea. I've always been told (by good ol mom) to never buy canisters that don't seal because bugs can get in them and they don't stay as fresh but that is a great idea :)
