The listing, Awesome pencil cactus Desert Christmas Cactus plant starts has ended.
The photos are of a plant in my yard that's under a mesquite tree. It takes care of itself and is nice, but it isn't the prettiest specimen possible. There are some gorgeous photos on Google Images, for Cylindropuntia leptocaulis that give you a much better idea how awesome this plant can be! This super-easy to grow cactus decorates itself with red "Christmas tree balls", giving it the name Christmas Cactus. It's also sometimes called Desert Christmas Cactus, or Tasajllo. The red balls sprout into new plants, sometimes even while still on the parent plant. It's hardy here in Central Texas, and adds a welcome spot of color to the yard, for months. These photos were taken recently, and you can see some of the red decorations on the plant that form after the 1" greenish-yellow blooms in the spring. The "fingers" on the plant are about 1"-3" long, and I'll mail the winner at least three "fingers", so you can start your very own awesome plants.
