This is what is called "Treen" which covers lots of things, but Treen is always wood! Treen is vintage or Antique Wooden collectibles, usually hand carved or handmade often country or rural type Folkart . This piece is unusual in that is is signed J. Karski . So far I have no information on who this person is, but most treen is unknown origin, so it's quite rare in that this piece has an actual signature! This particular piece is humorous because the artist used the knot in the wood for the tip of the nose! I've had this for years and enjoyed the smiling face , big grin (reminds me of Dr. Suess characters!) but it's time to pass it on for someone else to enjoy. I could have listed it in sculpture but technically it is not as it is meant to hang on the wall(but it isn't a wall relief either! So I put it into collectibles hoping to find treen collectors! Or maybe this will be your first! I have more treen I will be listing in time, but this is an outstanding piece! Not too many have this kind of detail!I am sure it took many hours to carve!
