Morning Glories are an annual flowering vine known for its early morning blooming whose flowers close up once the sun gets high in the sky. I have learned a trick completely by accident, which prolongs the bloom time. I Plant the vines where they will get morning sun and mid-late day shade. I have gotten the flowers to stay open almost the entire day. awesome! They grow well in hanging planters and if provided with string to follow, they could wrap themselves all around your porch/deck, just like hanging gardens.

Hummingbirds, butterflies and bees love them! Color purple-blue with magenta stripes and pale yellow throat.

Planting instructions:
Morning glories are a bit tricky to get the seeds to germinate, but easy enough when you know this trick which is great for any seeds especially those with a hard seed coat. All you have to do is soak the seeds overnight in warm water. By morning they will be plumped up and be ready for quick germination. Simply plant them in potting soil or directly in the ground where you want them to grow after all danger of frost. Provide a trellis, fence or other structure for them to grow on and make certain they stay moist until they sprout.

They do NOT like to be transplanted, but if you are careful, I’m sure you can do it. Other than that, sun and occasional watering—more often in dry weather when they start to look weepy-- but once established they will do fine on their own.

Depending on when you plant them, it may take several days or even weeks for germination, so be patient.
