With the trade of Prince Fielder to the Texas Rangers for second baseman Ian Kinsler to the Tigers, the Tiger management finally mutually agreed that it was time to give the kid his chance in the show. With Miggy's unselfish move back to first base this season the Tiger's brass felt the youngster was fully capable of handling the third base duties on an everyday basis and he has proven himself capable of manning the hot corner in a very respectable manner. Only time will tell how much farther he develops in the big leagues but the consensus was that he was fully talented enough to make the move on up from Triple AAA where he had nothing else to prove at that level. Tigers fans have watched Nick perform well and by no means a superstar yet, he may very well be on his way to establishing himself as much more that just a capable infielder both with the bat and glove. Only time will tell.
