I/m not really sure the blade is of a different material than the outside (think it may be steel)which I think may be brass,besides the brass it is made of a brown material( dont know what it may be) thank you for your interest
its a brass Chinese style knife that would be used in close range battle by the military instead of using a sword which was intended for medium range attack. the blade is slightly curved to make a larger injury and basically cause iminate death. now it is a beautiful collectors item and not intended for such use anymore

I still believe this knife is of Middle eastern ancestry. I mean look @ the clues. For one thing the hilt, It's a horses head. 2nd you have the curved blade. What middle eastern tribes loved the horse. Well Mongolia comes to mind, the Ottoman or Turkish empire. But unless there are makers marks, this knife was most likely produced, on the sub-continent of India. They produce these by the hundreds. For the tourist trade.
