Hawaii always smells soo good and the people are so nice. Do you ever come across t-shirts that are dyed with the red clay? Mine wore out & would love another one

That was quite the fad for a while - "The Red Dirt Shirt" I haven't seen any for a while, but it would be easy enough to do. There really is no clay in Hawaii geologically speaking, because the islands are really young in the scheme of things. But the dirt in Kawaihae is bright red in some places and that is probably what they used for the t-shirt coloring.

Maybe next auction I will do eBay. Thank you, Susan, for checking out my auction!! I hope I win yours with the credits I get from this, but it will be close. We just moved (and are still packing up stuff) from Hilo to Honokaa where my husband was commuting to work, because we inherited his parent's house there.

I really want that box!! Mine was a little wider and deeper but the exact same carvings... Later, I'll tell you the story behind it. It was camphor wood and had a nice smell.

I tried before just to see when I was setting up the list, but there was no Shell in the phone book, so I asked my hubby and he said Shell here was bought out by another gas station or something... So, I don't know if they carry Shell cards, but I will definitely be looking into it. You can bid if you want and have a second and third choice and I will run around looking for that gas card for you, if you want. I just can't guarantee it.
