Description

The listing, Fabric Remnants for a Crazy Quilt has ended.

I am listing this after several people made a request of me. So here goes. I am filling a box with fabric remnants just for a crazy quilt ! Of course you could use the fabric pieces for a scrappy or charm quilt; but, I am selecting different types of fabrics for this package. There will be cottons, poly cottons, satins, etc. Part of the beauty of a Crazy Quilt is that you take all the scraps and left overs from your sewing projects and you can design something so unique and beautiful that can never be replicated. I have one that is 7' x 7' and I ended up crazy quilting both sides. I look at the fabrics and they have memories. I recall what I originally bought the fabric for, how long ago and it holds these memories for me. It is also a great way to use up those little pieces of trim.
So, I will tier this one as well.
We will start out with 10 pieces of fabric. WHen someone outbids the high bidder I will add another cpl pieces to the box. When we hit 100 I will add a trim. When we hit 200 I will add 3 trims. When we hit 300 I will add 4 trims, when we hit 400 I will add 5 trims, When we hit 500 I will add something unique and special to the package.
I will add little incentrives and challenges during the auction to make it interesting. There is NO LIMIT as to how much fabric and trims I have ;-)
As always, happy bidding and give me feedback and comments when you outbid the person; so I don't miss it. thanks for looking

My Quilt is an oriental/asian fan. I am making it out of non-traditional fabrics, such as brocades, velvets, damask, cotton duck, jaquards, decorator fabrics, silks and a few cottons. It will have to be drycleaned but it will be worth it. I have been saving fabrics for years to do this. No two fans will be alike. I am embellishing the plain fabrics with metallic threads to give it texture and interest. I have tons of vintage silk and other interesting fabric men's ties to use as well. It will not be the traditional fans all going in one direction either. they will be turned in different ways. The backing will be a light cotton fabric with oriental characters in tan, grey, black and red. I haven't decide what color the blocks will be yet, but there might be more than one color. I am leaning towards a charcoal grey.

cotton duck. really? I never would have thought of putting such a stiff fabric in with that group. hmmm. I can picture all the rest though. I have a crazy quilt where I used most of the ones you mentioned. I wash it in the bath tub and spread it out across the top of the clotheslines to dry. It looks kinda funny laying across the lines but I have washed it a hundred times that way and it does well. I have used the dryell sheets in the dryer with it. It is too big to put in the bag they give you but it does well that way in the winter time to 'freshen' it up. I have even sprayed it with frebreze fabric spray. lol I hesitate taking it the dry cleaners because I don't want their chemicals on the fabric. (not that what I use isn't chemicals) I will take into consideration what you are doing if you win the auction.
Hope to see the pics some day !!

some pieces are .... maybe 8" x 8" and some are larger than a fat quarter. typical pieces that are used for crazy quilting. Usually more than one piece of the same print. I am tossing in some strips left over from strip quilting as well. They are maybe 4 " wide by 18" or longer. Just my left over stash that I was going to use and I just have way too much now.

Ty for the advice. Norma, you should write a book about words of wisdom pertaining to quilting--and sell it here. I for one would buy it. Time savers and money savers. What would you say are the Ten Commandments of Quilting?

Shhhhh don't tell my husband. lol Oh, yea. I made a special quilt for my very tall son. It was over 7 ft long and 7ft wide. I spent over $50 just for the batting. It is a vey costly hobby. I have done well selling them though. I can make enought to cover the cost and replenish the supplies. Do you sell on Etsy or Ebay? I hear that people do very well on Etsy. I don't have enough time to make and sell full time on a website. friends, family and neighbors have kept me busy. would love to see some pics

Knitted and crocheted..Baby size to king size...again I take orders since all my kids and grandkids have them now..lol

That is wonderful. I find it very relaxing. I work on piecing during the day and stitching. When I have to go somewhere I take one of my totes with them so I can work on the hand applique blocks. I always have a few quilt tops I am working on. In the winter I do the layering and quilting; too hot to quilt in the summer months. Plus, I am busy doing some gardening. It takes a long time to complete them but they are a great memory to pass on.
