Is this a wireless Ethernet adapter ? can you use a usb to plug it into a standard pc for wireless connections to a local network ?

OK to be clear the wire coming off the adapter is a CAT 5 cable for a router. that means it is not a wireless adapter. thanks i have an adapter already built into the laptop i own. thanks for the response. This unit is for a "Laptop ONLY"

EXACTLY. You've got it right. Some laptops didn't come set up for networking or lan years ago and this facilitates that.
