A pale green tusk shaped hollow shell averaging 3" to 3 1?4" long. Traditionally used in choker's and as decorations on capes and dresses.

Dentalium Shells were used as money by American Indians of long ago and are still used in bead work today.

Dentalium shells are small tubular mollusks that look like little elephant tusks. There are over 300 species of dentalium, but the species most used by American Indians as money were Dentalium (Antalis) Pretiosum which are found along the northwest coast of North America.
Dentalium shells have been used ornamentally as beads, money and symbols of wealth for thousands of years and many varieties can be found around the world. Dentalium Pretiosum or Indian Money Tusk has a smooth finish with horizontal ridges and are a strong shell less likely to chip or break.
