The listing, 1884-O Historic Morgan Silver Dollar!!! has ended.

1884-O Historic Morgan Silver Dollar
Add this specially encapsulated Morgan Historic Silver Dollar.
Featuring the distinctive “O” mint mark of the New Orleans Mint.
During its years in operation, it served 3 masters: the United States, the State of Louisiana, and the Confederacy.
New Orleans was nicknamed the "Crescent City" for the way it wraps around a bend in the Mississippi River.
This 1884 Morgan silver dollar with its "O" mint mark is a precious reminder of the "Crescent City" mint.

The New Orleans Mint struck coins starting in 1879 and ending in 1909. They didn't strike any Morgans in 1921 because the mint closed in 1909.
Questions & Comments

One other thing I am very appreciative of all the Inputs that I have received. Each and every one have been informative. I have done research based on those comments. They have help very much. I am a computer technician. I tried collecting coins look through some of my listings. Collecting nice coins can be very expensive. And yes local dealers as well as TV sales people have one thing in mind, how they can make a dollar. I am in the process of passing my entire collection to others. Thanks again for all the input. And Blessings. Charles

Nature loving pagan pogo said very little about this Morgan! And none of it was negative! Why don't you keep your problems with pogo to yourself! I happen to know pogo VERY well he is a personal friend of mine we have been dealing together for more than a year and a half! Pogo is very well informed on coins I know I've auctioned somewhere around 10 or more Morgans to him! He does his research very well on any coin he is interested in and even the ones he is not! Sorry to be writing this on your page my friend! But nature loving isn't so loving as he might let on! If you did notice pogo said only the facts about a Carson city and a New Orleans mint coin! Hey nature lover get a life move on from pogo!!!

To all watchers, I have researched all I can. And in all my research it is evident this is Not a GSA holder. I have never said that it was GSA nor do I represent it as such in description. I have said that it is encapsulated Only. It is a nice dollar. I did not place it in this holder I bought it that way. Thank you...

Its in a GSA holder sealed that's the great part about it. They did these from all mints Carson City being the most popular.

I have one of these also in the same casing. I got mine from hsn years ago, and have 2 from the philadelphia mint also. They are very nice coins. Mine was cleaned before putting it in its casing. I took mine to a coin dealer and decided to keep it cause i spent 65 dollars on each and he wasnt willing to even give me that. Who ever wins this coin will be very lucky but hold onto it. I wish i had enough to bid, good luvck to all.

First, let me say that your coin is an excellent piece. Maybe MS-63. I own one and it is certified by PCGS MS-63 and it too is a beautiful coin. The total mint for this particular coin was 9,360,000. Which is considerably high. I currently have The Official Red Book for 2015 and it is listed @ $60.00 for MS-63 condition. I attend many coin shows with hundreds of coin dealers and believe it or not they have they're own set of rules and special books they go by. Because of this it is easier to get them at a lower price because they have to pay for they're booths and are in competition with all the other dealers. So your more apt to get better prices from coin dealers. This is not to say that your coin is cheap, it's just another thing a Numismatist would consider. This is listia and most participants would be unaware of the intricacies of coin collecting. I have been collecting since I was a teenager and have been to many shows around the country and you never know what the next one might bring. Oh! bye-the-way I researched your coin and found that it is pretty common accept that it is in the New Orleans Black Case which does make it unique. Last of all, remember this, your or any coin will always be whatever some one is willing to pay for it. Good luck with your auction and I hope you get what you want. Great auction.

I thank you sir for that info I hope that the last pictures convey its beauty, I can say its pretty I honestly know not allot on the grading I have had quite a few that were graded by NGC. and you know I honestly cannot tell the difference between an MS 69 or 70. I bought many AU/BU not knowing... I thank you for your insight and candor as I truly admire and wanted to and tried to collect the best. This was one I did.

About 5 years ago I suffered a stroke, so somethings I dont remember well. And for the life of me I cant remember the details around why I bought this. Im pretty sure it was a Coin Vault buy I bought many certified coins a while back, just dont know its a pretty neat coin though...

HSN has this coin for $139.
NGC has it stable @ $90.
90% Silver, and apparently a very stable investment, but other than being a strong reminder of the Historical significance of New Orleans, I could find no other deep significaqnces, sorry.
Namaste!
Victor
