My father lived in Germany for a few years in the late 1930's just before Hitler closed the borders, and Dad had to escape. While in Germany, he enjoyed going to the symphony and operas in those grand halls, some of which were destroyed in World War II. This book, written by Dr. Heinz Wichmann, was Dad's guide to understanding the great symphony composers and the Operas available to him.
