I'm not saying this isn't legit, but that autograph for Ernie Banks doesn't look much like his signature (note how Banks has consistently signed autographs with a distinctive "E" and "B" which the one in your picture doesn't match) .It could just have been a bad day or something, but it looks notably different from every signature of Banks I've seen (For example: http://www.psacard.com/ResourceImages/1992-ernie-banks-signature-3.jpg). If you had a legitimate certificate of authenticity, this auction's bids would surely skyrocket.

Leave it alone. The Beckert and the Kessinger and the Banks all look totally legitimate.

PSA is not even considered a legitimate company with The BBB, except when they are hired to notarize signatures as they are happening. That is how they make most of their money. They have been more than bruised and battered by people who can show their evidential proof of authenticity afterwards. PSA would be flooding the market with forgeries if it were not the honest card shop owners, the relatives of the players, and others. People have sent them numerous known forgeries of autographs and they were authenticated by PSA, but the people are honest. PSA is not a very legitimate form of authenticity, unless they were present at the actual signing. The big companies with stacks of Babe Ruth autographs do not even want to hear about third party authentication, they tell a buyer to use their own judgment. "The horse has been out of the barn for a long time on companies that want to speculate on the authenticity of autographs." Autographs are to be cherished by kids and others, who obtain them at the ballpark or hotel. If you have a C.O.A. it is nice, but if it is a speculative (opinion), C.O.A., it will not enhance the value with a real collector. Use your own judgment. I really cannot see anything wrong with the Ernie Banks autograph. I also believe this seller, that this is not a facsimile. Good luck on your auction.

fundog121, they are nice to have if you bring them other proof or if they are the notary public. "That is the only way." Not even the F.B.I. makes such claims. That is why there ratings with The Better Business Bureau is a "D" at best. It is a scam that other COA authorities, sometimes do for free. It is a startup business on Craigslist. A person needs to be able to gauge themselves. They have passed on authentic Mantle and other famous autographs and tried to flood the market with a lot of known fakes. It is speculation and they are one of the least reliable.

fundog121, they have been tested time and again by other legitimate sellers of autographs. They are not reputable. They can say in their "opinion." The best certificates of authenticity notarized certificates of being present at the signing. If you ever go to a convention you will find that paying for a C.O.A. is probably going to cost more than the actual autograph.
