This beautiful plant just popped up in my full sun flower bed top leaf size is bout 10in x 5in plant is 3 1/2ft tall x 3ft wide pretty flower spikes are bout 8in with white n pink flowers that turn into little green pumpkin shape seed pods plant came up begin of summer and started blooming bout 3 weeks ago I have no idea what this plant is but I do love it! You get 40+ fresh seed. If you know what it is PLEASE let me know. ; .)

I believe it's called Pokeweed. Do the berries turn deep purple? Every part of the plant is edible, however, it is best to pick it at about 8" height. The root will keep producing every year, and, can be used like a soft carrot, or, in bread. Enjoy!

WHOOPS!! I just checked on Wikipedia. The roots are toxic, but certain parts of the rest of the plant can be used - carefully. Here's the link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytolacca_americana
