Is it rechargeable or does it need to be plugged in if your not using the batteries?

i don't think it can be plugged in,, it says on it that it works with USB cable or 2 AAA batteries.( i am adding 4 batteries with it,) It does have the wire connected to the back that plugs right into your speaker jack on your phone or computer or whatever using it on. :+)
