This is a high end Server/Desktop Motherboard. I couldnt find the cap for the CPU socket, so it will be coming with a NON-FUNCTIONAL Engineering Sample CPU. I will also throw in a CPU cooler fan. The included CPU DOES NOT WORK (I am only including it to prevent damage to the CPU socket during shipping, you get the cooler fan as a bonus.) This board takes a Socket 2011 CPU and DDR3 Ram. Happy Bidding!

What do you mean by cap for the CPU socket? Can you include pictures of the CPU socket indicating what is missing. Your pictures all show the fan on top of the CPU socket.

There is nothing missing. The newer cpu/mb have the contacts on the mb instead of the chip, which makes the socket really fragile. I put the cpu in to protect the mb during shipping. The cooler is just a cool extra. You want pics without the cooler, I will remove it and it will cease to be part of the auction. This is a $350 mb, I want it to arrive safely.

Thanks for the feedback. I have not bought a new mb in several years now.

This is a sweet mb, I just couldnt throw in a cpu I paid over $500 for in a listing where 5,000 was the highest starting bid I could do. I have used this mb for a while, just bought the latest and greatest so have no use for this one.

Yep, works fine. It's less than 2 years old so the caps are in good shape. I bought another mb thats better thats all.

I have an Engineering Sample Xeon 8-core, but it is not functional. It was given to me at a trade show. Remember, the cpu is NON-Functional. There was no way I was gonna leave my i7 in there.

yes I know it a 2011 but some motherboard are i7 only and some are i7 and i5 only and some can take all three of them,, I'm asking if this is a i7 extreme socket only? or is it the on I can go cheep on and put a i3 in it until the funds come up for a i7
