What does the writing say in your fourth picture on the inside of the book? A name?

Yeah, the writing is faded and I couldn't quite make out the style of writing to know exactly what the name is...There is a date of what looks to be 1891, as if the book was given to the person as a gift or something then. (Im at work at the moment, so can't try to decipher the writing right now :) )

All I can see is the names of individuals who were perhaps the publishers? In the 5th pic, as well...

Really cool auction! I don't really care about condition (although it looks great to me considering the age!) It's just cool to hold a piece of history. Already F&W a few days ago...just came to look again! :)

Where did you get it? who was the publisher do you know? i was wondering too, 180 yo did they have printing presses back then? im just curious! my sister in law had 2 bibles 1 was from the 1600s and it was german the other 1 was from the 1700s. amazing! the only thing was, i was taking pictures of them in her curio cabinet and standing right in front of the curio was a very old nun ghost! no joke!

Susan, Ijust rechecked the book and saw the page I missed...The title page...It had been sticking another blank page in front of it when I flipped through before. It says it was published by The Synod Of Said Church. It looks to have been done in Philadelphia, PA. Also says its for the use of the Reformed Church and is the 73rd edition...I do believe Guttenberg created the printing press in the 1400's...This is definitely printed and not hand written! 1834 is the only date inthe book besides what Somone wrote in the front...Looks like it was given to someone named Lucy for a Christmas present in 1891...Sorry I can't add update pics for you now....
