Questions & Comments
Keeping my eyes on this gorgeous piece could you please tell us what size it is? Have a wonderful auction you have great findings viking pins! Are they rusted? I am wondering if they can be restored?
The fibula pins are corroded and dirty, i'm not sure how far they could be restored. They can definitely been cleaned, but again, not sure to what extent.
No rust on the ring - I think it's gold filled, but not sure and it looks to be about a size 7-8. Hope this helps and thanks for the questions!
It was found by a digger (someone who uses a metal detector) that lives in Latvia. The items that I list in this genre have been found by him within the last year. They are legitimately "buried treasure" :)
Fantastic auction, thanks for listing this amazing treasure!! Fanned and definitely watching this one closely!! I'm a fellow digger as well!!! Great hobby, good exercise, lol!!
Thanks! I've always been fascinated with digging, but never invested in a really good locater. And knowing that the oldest thing we're likely to find around here is a beer cap... or a musket ball versus the legit "ancient" items they're finding in the Baltic regions of Europe is more than a little discouraging for me. Have you had any luck with treasure? :)
My friend and I found about $2000 worth of old zinc lids while dear hunting in Northern WV, back in 1968. I gave him my share, since he had a Baby Girl. One can do well sometimes, for I never would have thought we would have come across those things out in the booger woods, LOL.
