no. absolutely not for stove-top use. What you do is heat your water in a tea kettle. Put the coffee grounds and boiling hot water in the French press together. Then put the top on and push the plunger/screen down. This forces the grounds to the bottom of the pot at the same time it is pushing the hot water through them to the top. Wonderful way to make coffee
