This is Gizmo my Ecuadorian Red Lored Amazon. They are near extinct in the areas of Belize. I have had him since he was almost 6 months and I have to say he is a little bit spoiled. He just helped me wash dishes in the kitchen. I have to give him his basin while I was and he hops in the basin and squeals and saturates the floor. I then mop the floor. Well, today I was canning and he decided he wanted to splash while I was busy. So, the foor was mopped up twice. He is very loving and very funny. He laughs at himself now and doesn't wait for me to laugh. Now he is napping; I guess I wore him out

LOL how funny!! we used to have a quacker parrot, that would laugh and talk he would say pretty boy, and hello, and whatcha doin, then he picked up barking like my moms dogs so it would be quite and all of a sudden you would hear the dogs barking and try to figure out what was up and it was him!! used to crack us up all the time, we had him for about 5 years then mom decide she didnt want him anymore so she sold him, but was he funny!!

Sounds very funny. Reminds me of the Double yellow headed amazon I had. 'Hazel' was the perfect mimic. She would hear something once and mimic it perfectly. The second day I had her I heard my daughter's voice calling, "help, help, let me out!". funny thing was I thought she was at work. I ran out into the living room looking for her calling her name, checking the rooms. No where.? I went back in the back room and a few minutes later I heard her calling again and I shouted, "where are you?" to that I heard Hazel laughing. I went out in the room and stared at her and she didn't say anything. Then she said it again. (no way I thought, that sounds like Heather!). Well, a few months later she got me in trouble. She was on the patio enjoying the weather and I was washing windows and fussing around the side of the house out of her sight. I heard her mimic motorcycles and other animals & learned to tune her out by then. We had new neighbors move in and they were sitting outside. The lady nervously came up to me and asked, "do you have a daughter at home?" I said, "no". (weird I thought). Then another lady came up and said,"we heard your daughter calling for help. She said, Mom, mom, let me out". I laughed and said, Oh that is Hazel. don't worry about it, she says that all the time.
They looked at me weird and said,"well, who is Hazel? we were ready to call the police?"
I introduced them to Hazel and of course she was as quiet as a mouse for them, then.
Later that day she gave them an earful. You see, I rescued her from a guy who had bad language. It took me 4 years to help her forget those awful words. She sounded just like a drunken man.

Wow that's too funny, I used to have a friend that had one of those African gray parrots and it mimiced everything well they used to watch that show bevis and buthed and it learned to talk like them it wad horrible and it want shy either a stranger could come over and it would cuss up a storm. It was so terrible I felt so bad for it birds army for that there supposed to be pets and learn good things not like that stuff.
