The big colorful flower heads are held at the top of long upright stems. Tall garden phlox is appropriate planted at the back of the garden or as a border along pathways or a fence.

Tall phlox is hardy in USDA horticultural zones 4 to 8. It can be grown in warmer areas but may suffer from mildew problems in areas with high humidity.
