The listing, African Hosta (10 Plants) has ended.

African Hosta (Drimiopsis Maculata) or Little White Soldiers. Great in dish gardens, pots or in the ground. Sun or bright shade. It is a succulent. Neither insects, disease, slugs or snails seem to bother this wonderful plant. Cute flowers in the spring. They start green then turn white. The leaves are lovely. It starts from a bulb. Multiplies fast. The 3rd picture shows some in the ground with the bulb part visible. The 4th is a pic of the same ones later on in the season. The 2nd pic shows them in shade. They are a lighter green. I have some in my office that are really light green and no spots.

Hi! Can these be grown as a houseplant? And are the bulbs supposed to be planted 1/2 out of the ground like scilla? Thanks!!

This is a very easy plant to grow. I plant them totally underground but they grow and end up half to almost totally above ground. I've never grown inside, but I don't see why not! Just make sure they get plenty of bright light.

I would say yes, however I would cover them with straw or mulch if the cold is for a greater length of time. I fanned you back. :-)

This plant is so forgiving, it can grow anywhere you put it! I have some inside and outside, some are in pots and some are in the ground. The ones in the ground are about 3 ft tall. I love mine and whoever wins these will love them! I got mine at a flea market. Reproduces fast!!! Cover in winter or bring indoors as with any bulb!

What size are the plants you'll be sending? And do you know if they are deer resistant?

I have no idea as to the deer as I live in the city with a privacy fence. :) As to size; from 3-6 inches. The tallest mine have gotten are around 10" I always throw in some babies too.
