The listing, 25 chive seeds from hardy flavorful plants has ended.
Up for grabs are 25 seeds from my very hardy chive plants. The seeds are from last fall.
The plants originally came from my grandmother's garden in a Western New York farming town. When my mom and I moved, we divided the chive clump and took part of it with us and planted it in our flower bed.
The plants grew quickly and had to be divided almost yearly. I took a clump with me when I moved away, and planted it in my back yard, and they had gone crazy. Before moving into an apartment, I took all of the seeds from the plants and bagged them, as well as collecting all of the seeds from my mother's plants as well.
I have started all of the plants that I want (and can handle) at this location and point in time, and always have the ability to get another clump from my mother... so I am sharing my seeds with my Listia friends.
These chives are very oniony, grow quickly and propagate fast. They produce a crazy amount of seeds. They are fatter and taller than chive plants that you see in garden shops and grocery stores.
I had a small patch of garlic chives as well, from a store bought plant. It was originally separate from my grandma's chives, but as the plants expanded they eventually got close enough that when I was harvesting seeds, a few of the garlic ones might have made it into the mix. (Full disclosure).
I am almost out of these, and will now only be listing batches of 25 seeds. :)
Good luck!
