Description
The listing, Over 100 year old copy of a daguerreotype Photo has ended.
I have been told this is not a daguerreotype photo. It took 8 pictures to get these 3 because you can hardly see it unless the angle is right. Apparently it could possibly be a copy on hard paper. This picture is someone from the Gage family. It was taken around 1895 in Canada. It is in very good condition. A pristeen sample of old school photography !!!!!
Questions & Comments
Google this using the correct spelling as shown in my comment. It wiilmshow youmwhat they looked like. A daguerreotype has an almost metallic finish, that looks like a positive image, but when tilted, almost appears to be a negative. A cabinet photo is usually a sepia cored photo mounted on heavy cardboard. A tintype is always on metal.
I do have tin types for sure. Thank-you, bless your heart. I will redo this ad, the age is correct, because I have the whole Gage album and there is nothing newer in it. I wish I could find the family for sure.
This photo is from an album with over 20 tin type photos. It seems I was wrong about the type according to some. Please tell me what determins a degariatype?
