Auction starts with 10 organic Marigold seeds (seeds ONLY. Containers for ideas.) Started with organic seed, and grown organically. Seeds collected from numerous blooms. At 500 credits, will add 10 more. Will add 15 seeds for each. 500 credits over that (helps with shipping.) If bids high enough for extras, make nice little gifts (see pic.) Store in fridge in paper put in glass w/desiccant pk.if have. Grows in almost any soil if sunny & well-drained. Sow directly into the garden or in a container. 45-50 days from planting to flowering. Farmer's Almanac says can sow now or as late as after first frost, but before ground is frozen for early spring bloom, or in spring after last frost. Sow about 1/4"'deep. Not picky but I use organic soil and compost. Fertilize w/organic fertilizer at planting only. Keep moist till germinate, then water from bottom weekly. Require little care, but deadheading is imperative! All Listia Rules apply!
7 years ago, purchased organic seed. Since,have collected my own seeds. 5 years ago, started loosely tying kitchen string around prettiest flowers to dry on plant for saving. I plant saved seed every year & now have consistent color. More beautiful each year! Make important companion plants all over the garden. Scent thought to repel some pests & animals, (my experience is yes, but no scientific proof.) Studies do show underground workings definitely repel nematodes (microscopic worms.) Few problems. Watch for slugs, deadhead often, do not water overhead. ENJOY!
