what are the measurements of the slabs, height, length and width?

These two small boulders have not yet been slabbed. The boulders measure (approx.) 1" x 1" x 1/2" , and 1" x 1" x 3/4". If you look at the pictures above, the first 4 pictures show the boulders for auction, while the final six pictures (as noted in the description) depict my results when I split a similar boulder into halves, and then polished one half into a very attractive pillow cabachon. The result of sawing the boulder in half was two slabs exactly like the angular one shown, and I then formed and polished one down to the size and shape shown from the other identical slab. the beginning boulder started out at 1" x 1 1/2" x 3/4", and the finished cab is11/4" x 1" x 1/4". Your results will vary depending on how you choose to cut your boulders, and how you then form and polish them out. I, for instance, formed mine into what I plan to pierce for a pendant, while you may want to make flat bottomed dome cabs for rings, brooches or glue ons.

It's all in having or having access to the machines that allow you to do such things easily! I have a good friend who has all the machines, and he is kind enough to allow me free unlimited access to them. So, All I had to do was show up with the right stones, and just do the work. The actual cutting, grinding and polishing is remarkably simle and easy to do with the right tools! I just took a step toward acquiring my own machines, making my first acquisition on Tuesday, when I found a heavy Duty Dremel flex-shaft machine of the type used in a commercial Bench Jewelers shop. This, along with a comprehensive set of cut-off wheels and grinding/polishing stones will allow me to accomplish the same thing, though it may take a bit longer. It's really fun, doing this kind of stuff!!
