Depending on how you cut, you could get at least a 5x5 square out of it (I assume that is what you mean). It is 6 on the width side (up to down) at the narrowest, so you would have to center it, if you know what I mean.

Just took a tape measure to it. Fabric is not straight, so it narrows a bit at one end. It is about 5-1/2 on the narrow end. Wider end is about 6.
