The listing, ANTIQUE 1898 - 1900 French Sterling Silver Earrings has ended.

This is an Extremely Rare Set and is Complete. Sterling Silver and Marked. Clip on Earrings from 1898 to 1900 There are Intricately detailed Characters 2 per earring, each on a separate chain. Full length of each earring is 2 3/4 ". These Earrings are sometimes referred to as Baby Rattle Earrings as Each Figure has rattles inside. I have been told that the clip on part might not be original to these, however I am not a jeweler and this was mentioned by a watcher of this Auction.

clip ons were not invented until 1930 not the late 1600's.so the earrings are not what you think they are.

The late 1700's would be around 1898 and it is possible that the screw backs were replaced before I bought them, each of the four characters are suspended from separate Sterling Chains. I have had them for approx 40 years. And the earrings are Exactly what I think they are, a complete set of these is considered quite rare.

you said late 17th century not late 1700's.the late 17th centuery is in fact ,date wise,late 1600's as i said.much as today we are in the 21st century but the actual date is 2914.i have been an antique dealer for 40 some odd years.if the backs were married you should say that so the winner won't renege because there wasn't full disclosure

You are so right, forgive my lapse in time measurement. I have been dealing Antiques for about the same length of time, however; I did not realize the clip on was not original, they are sterling and have been tested since your comment was made.
