Gorgeous black beaded necklace that sparkles. Not rough on the outside, the sparkles are on the inside. You won't find these beads just anywhere. I bought them at a high end gem show and hand beaded them on silk myself....stunning!

What type of beads are these, i.e. glass gems, etc.?

I know that they are of a hard substance (I.E. not plastic), however, I don't remember if they are any particular gemstone. The "sparkle" part is inside the bead not on top, it is throughout.

The beads are called goldstone. I bought some off yardsellr the other day. They are gorgeous manmade gemstones - made from glass. There's a wikipedia article detailing the whole process, if you want to know more.

Gold stone is a special glass made in Italy. There is one family that has passed down the secret of making it from generation to generation. It comes in the form of a glass rock and has to be melted down to work with it. Usually made into rods for bead making.
