You will need to know techniques:
-chain
-slip stitch
-single crochet
-double crochet
-crochet in rounds
-increasing in rounds

You will need:
aprox. 4oz of 4ply worsted weight yarn
crochet hook
2 buttons (about 1 inch in diameter, but the pattern has instructions for larger or smaller buttons)
(optional) tapestry needle

What sz will it fit? I stitch tight will that effect the pattern?

If you stitch tight, I'd suggest using a larger hook size. I use a G with this pattern. The testers I had for this pattern, some stitched really tight and it make the hat smaller, so when they used an H or an I, it was the correct size. This hat should fit 20-22 inches around.
