Description

The listing, 5mm Round Purple Loose Gemstone has ended.

5mm Round Purple in color 4mm deep to point

Removed from a gold ring before turning in for gold recovery. My husbands business is part scrap gold recovery from PC components & jewelry. The stone was properly lifted with NO scratches.

I have 1,000's of loose gemstones & will be slowly listing them here.

I'm no gemstone grader so I CAN NOT tell you what type of gem it is. I can not grade it either, but I can tell you with a VERY strong magnifier I can see NO inclusions, or feathering, the cut appears even and symmetrical to me.

I not sure if you are aware of this stone being a color changing Alexanderite, that changes from light blue to purple. Look at the pic . for the color
change. I didn't know if you noticed, but whom ever gets this gemstone is getting a good deal becauces of the color change factor, this should also make it more desirable

I don't think it is... It may appear shades different from the lighting & flash but it does not change tones as far as I can see in months of handling this...

Thatt is what makes it change colors is the different U. V. light such as white light from a camera flash or certain kind of light bulbs. Also the strength of the color change varies in all stones. The first pic of the stone shows the color change because of the amoynt of surface the uv light has to refract thru the other picks, show it in purple because there is less surface to refract thru. I am a rock hound at heart and a amateur gemstone collector, I study and read and am handling stones all the time & studying everything about them

I just pulled it and and place it under several light sources & it appears the same under every type of light source I can find from a basic light bulb, LED, florescent, incandescent, and iridescent light sources... As far as density, hardness, and using a dichroscope, and checking crystal structure under a SEM it tests to be a man made amethyst...

It being man made explains the color change in the first pic. You certainly have the gem tools needed to test your stones, those are so good to have. AMAZING STONES YOU HAVE LISTED, my friend has bid on several of your things on here, well good to know you fellow Listia have a excellent night

My Boo deals with a lot of "high end" crystals for his work (part is laser refraction/multiplication/production), they deal with some items that require certain stone properties, hence the :hugantic" SEM our dinning room & his stone testing equipment, not mine, he knows all about this sort and only tells me when I ask. He scraps a lot of the "Prototype" components for gold & got into Jewelry for the gold recovery as well, ending up with THOUSANDS of loose stones removed before scrapping, which he gives to me to fill a "treasure box"...

Would you be interested in selling some that could be use in baked clay work, I could give you my cell no. To call or text me at,. I use to get my loose stones from a elderly Lady that owned a Ma and Pa store that scraped jewelry and she passed away, she was a incredible person. If you would be interested lwt me know, please.

I'd rather deal online off one site or another, nothing personal, but I do not deal person to person

That's soo cool that you can look at the Crystal structure of a gem!

With an ESM that my boo has for work purposes, it scans by millionths of an inch layers at a time to produce an image you can focus throughout the structure of the gem to search for certain properties, it's almost like a brain scan from the doctors, but for crystal structure, a bit more intense of a scan since they are more dense...
