they are soft made with worest weight yarn, but there are magnets on the back with a pipe cleaner ...so I wouldnt relly recommending giving them to a child with the magnets or pipe cleaner...If you bid and win and intent to give them to a child let me know and I can keep the magnets off and try to use somehing more safe for kids them pipe cleaner. I dont intend to give them to my 2yr old it's just I only have one magnet on our fridge and more coupons I need more magnets but if one should fall off then at least my daughter can't break it as easily as the others
