Description

The listing, A Pregnant Onion "Baby" has ended.

This plant is ODD and UNUSUAL aswell as fun to grow. I Will send one "baby" a little smaller than the size of the one in the forth picture. This Plant also known as a False Sea onion or Ornithogalum longibracteatum. Not the kind of onion you eat, and is mildly poisonous. It will flower usually and produce seeds if watered regualarly in the fall. The flowers are really pretty aswell growing very tall.

A house plant in colder Zones as It can't take alot of frost. A very easy plant because it can take neglect with long period of drought once established.

Its called a Pregnant Onion because the "babies" grow under the skin and then pop out.

Hi....The pot can be set outside during the summer & fall, before it gets cool and frosts? When brought inside, does it need a lot of sunlight?

Hello! yes, this is what i do with mine..I think it might like some sun inside, but because its so hardy I often put in a spot that dosent get alot of sun because i know it will be OK. It can take some abuse. It flowers in the late fall aswell, if you want to see the flowers bloom it has to stay fairly moist. :)

So is this plant slightly poisonous to animals? My cat sometimes munches on my palm tree plant, and I would like this, but a little worried about that now. Thanks :-)

I have known some cats to eat this a bit and been fine, not even sick. I imagine they would have to eat ALOT to hurt them.

I have had lot of cats, as kitten too, since I've had this plant for over ten years, for the most part they are not interested in it. I had some instances of them attacking the flowers because they come up very long, my brothers cat eat theirs though and is fine.
