Description

The listing, Zaxxon Table-Top Arcade has ended.

Blast back to 1983 with "The Official Zaxxon by Sega" courtesy of my parents cleaning out my childhood belongings. Included is the original box and a rigorously tested (o.k. I played it for about 20 minutes) and working unit. (The joystick sticks slightly preventing me from reaching my childhood high scores.)

The unit looks good, but the front sticker has faded a bit. The box is a quite a bit more beat. There is also a small hole in the box, where I cut out the proof-of-purchase to mail-in for a rebate. (I never did get the rebate. 8(

Directly from the box…

Prepare for thrilling galactic combat! Zoom your fighter in over the incredibly realistic alien asteroid fortress. Dive down and fly low above the surface to attack enemy installations; climb fast to avoid crashing into the barrier walls. Fuel arsenals, energy blasts and enemy tanks force you to change altitude and dodge constantly. Make it through one fortress, then fly through deep space ducking enemy missile squadrons as you go. Another asteroid awaits you; anywhere along the way, you might face the ultimate showdown with Zaxxon, the might Robot Warrior. Let the battle begin!

Free shipping within continental US, of course local pickup is preferred. Alternative shipping (Hawaii, Alaska, U.K., etc.) can be arranged at buyer's expense.

4 D-Cells...

The box says use "Alkaline Batteries Only," but I've been using rechargeable ones without a problem for the past couple of weeks without issue. (I think in 1983/4, rechargeable were pretty bad.)

So you have been playing it for a couple of weeks now, what is your high score?

Pretty low! (No pause button!)

My kids have been playing it while waiting for their turn on Wii Fit or while waiting for their siblings as we are getting out the front door. (I don't think any of them really gets it.)

(Something to be said about a game you just turn on and play... no cartridges to find, discs to load, television to turn on, etc.)

I want to thankyou for posting such a great auction. With including directly from the box is great.

I plan on bidding on this so that i can preserver the box art, and take photos of this small piece of history. As soon as I am done reviewing and posting my photos on www.1upgame.com I will relist it here in Listia as a sponsered auction from the second sponsered company by Listia. I believe in preserving, and recycling, and I feel after documentation of this it should goto a person who will play it until its last transistor pops, and it fades into the long sleep of most vintage electronics.
