Sort of an oval shape. I don't think they're glass, but they don't feel like your typical plastic either. They are very shiny and nice, classy beads. I was going to give them to a friend who makes jewelry, but she said she can't work with smaller beads, so definitely not for kids. :) I hope you'll bid, I'd love someone to be able to use these.
