Not as an audio visual cable but as a spare charger yes. Actually you can get the audio on the 3GS but not the video. this cable is made to work with video specifically, the 3G.

I bought it thinking that it would work with my 3GS and tried it. it didn't work so I contacted the company that I bought it from and they informed my that it would work with 3G, so I tested it on a friends phone and my sons iPod touch. it worked. my friend didn't want to give me the money that I wanted for it so it went on Listia.

I have no idea, I tried to use it on my 3GS and all that I got was sound but it worked great when I tried it on my sons phone and I pad. you are welcome to try to bid on it. if any thing it works great as a charger for most Apple products.
