Description

The listing, Cape May Diamonds has ended.

Five Cape May Diamonds I found myself on a beach in Cape May, NJ. Cape May diamonds are actually real quartz crystal, and are clear stones (I had a hard time with the pictures but I tried the best I could). The Kechemeche Indians were among the first to find these diamonds and they believed they had mystical powers and use to present them to each other as a token of friendship and also given as gifts to newlyweds and used as a trade item for early European settlers. The diamonds are washed upon the shores from a location underwater over 200 miles away and each one travels over a thousand years in the water until it reaches only a few beaches on the cape of New Jersey. These are ones that I just recently found and if you have a rock tumbler they will really sparkle but they are actually very pretty as is. They are used to make jewelry and when taken to a jeweler they can be cut to look exactly like real diamonds, hence the name, and have even been used locally for engagement rings! They are a fascinating read if you have a few minutes please google Sunset Beach Cape May Diamonds to learn more about their history. Happy Bidding! P.S. The diamonds shown in the pictures will be the actual ones you are you getting.

Hi! Was wondering if these are from Sunset Beach in Cape May Point??

And if you have any beach glass/sea glass?? The glass doesn't have to be from Cape May tho ...but that would be AWESOME!!!!

FosterJ you are absolutely correct! Yes they are from Sunset beach and yes I have LOTS of sea glass too especially white, brown and green in nice size pieces and a couple of small dark blue ones. I'll try to find out how to safely ship them and if I can afford postage and if so I'll make a couple of auctions for them as well : )

They are very pretty and even their history is interesting! They are pretty well known in South Jersey but not too much outside of our area. A lot of people around here take the best ones they find to jewelers and have them cut into diamonds and use them for earrings and even engagement rings!

Sweet! If I win them, I plan on leaving them just the way they are, for they are beautiful in their natural state. I couldn't afford to take them to a jeweler anyhow, lol!! And I love your bird! I have a parakeet :3
