Description

The listing, Western Digital External 160GB Hard Drive has ended.

A great drive that got too small for big media dreams. Has been in storage for a couple of years since upgrading to a 1TB, but it works. Guaranteed not to be DOA when you get it. Winner will pay exact shipping depending on what service is chosen.

This will fit in a medium sized flat rate priority mail box for $10.95. I will throw in delivery confirmation for free on the box via USPS priority mail. Insurance would be additional though. PayPal payment is preferred.

I think you misunderstand my comment. I was saying it would probably fit in a (cheaper) small flat rate box or envelope. I think people are hesitant to send money to new members because so often they end up not sending anything.

I believe the less someone has to invest in shipping the more likely they are to bid.

Thanks for the comment... I completely understood your note, but this unit and it's power supply will not fit in a small flat rate box or envelope. I posted specs later in this thread.

I will email the user manual to the winner. Current drivers are available on the mfr website as well depending on the operating system.

would you consider sending it in a small flat rate envelope or box? I believe it will fit.

Nice auction! Shipping seems fare and it is good that you do the payment through Paypal as Paypal provides buyer protection. Just FYI though your saying 10.95 for medium flat rate box. Paypal charges you a fee when you receive money "2.9% + .30 cents" so you will end up getting less then $10.95 just something you need to be aware of.

Anyways I have a couple questions about the drive. what is the size of this external drive?? by size i mean dimensions. Does it make any rattling noise when it is on?

Thanks for the heads up... yeah, PayPal fees suck, but I like that both buyer and seller has some protection. And it saves me a trip to the bank or post office to cash money orders. =)

This will fit in the small hard flat rate box made exclusively for hard drives, vhs tapes,etc.. the cost is only 5.25 for the small flat rate box the box is 5-3/8” x 8-5/8” x 1-5/8” so this hard drive would definately fit,and also are you going to put it into an anti static bag which you can purchase for 50 cents online,it is almost relevant that you use an anti static bag.

If the winner wants it packaged in an anti-static bag, then they can send one to me.
Also, it doesn't fit in the small flat rate boxes because it needs room for the power supply. The drive case dimensions are 8.5"x5.5"x1.5" and another 3.5"x2"x1.5" for the transformer not including the cord.

This is nice, but its small for now a days media demands like you said. But its great for pictures and a small amount of home video type stuff. Wish it was at least a 300gb though, i would be all over it like white on rice!

Yes... I own 3 externals 1TB, 2TB and a 3TB. I paid the same price for each over the past 3 years. How quickly technology changes!

Wow, i only have for externals a 500GB, a 1TB, the one in my PC computer which I believe is a 80GB, and i have all that running through my PogoPlug device. Then on my Dell Inspiron Laptop I have a small portable Passport external HD thats only 300GB, but its powered right by the USB port when i plug it into the laptop, no wall plug needed. So its really handy seeing how the laptop only has a 60GB hd in it. Im bidding on a 120GB laptop drive right now that ends tommorow here. Hope i win it as that will double my laptops current drive space, then with the Passport External 300GB drive, ill be sitting pretty for on the road drive space. When im in a bind, i can always upload stuff to my Pogoplug which gives me access to my two home external drives mentoined above. Gotta love the cloud! Especially when the cloud is your own running off your own network and you dont have to pay for it, or worry that when you dont pay, you get locked out of your information. Like some picture websites do. Im gonig to watch this auction, it will be interesting to see how it goes. If it was USB powered i would take it for my laptop. bummer.

I only have the externals mainly for media storage. My laptop has a 300GB which I gave to my hubby for his astrophotography. I'm content with my HP media center desktop and the 1TB. The other drives are hooked directly to my tv's for movies. I use another workstation specifically for video compilation at the day job with another workstation for office work. Unfortunately, my ascent into the cloud is personally slow and just haven't gotten around to all the cool stuff. Don't even own a smart phone... I'm so 6 years ago!
