A very rare children's book of Japanese fairy tales. Although printed at the turn of the century, it is filled with full color illustrations. Collection of Japanese fairy tales (monogatari) .
An old man captured a mischievous raccoon and took it home to make a soup of it. The smart raccoon tricked the old man's wife, killed her, and escaped. A rabbit heard the story and promised the old man revenge against the raccoon. After a series of tricks that the rabbit played on the raccoon, the rabbit put the raccoon in a mud boat to catch fish, and the boat sunk in the middle of the ocean.
