Does it only work with the Net 10 plan; take pictures; and have cord that hooks up to computer to transfer pics? New to all of this and seems more to these new phones than expected.

yes this is a net ten phone only, so you will need to purchase a net ten card or pay as you go plan to use this phone, just google the specs for the LG840G and you'll find out everything this phone is capable of

I just come back from the store after bidding on this and it says phones must be activated. This phone has been activated?

Once you buy the phone, open the pkg and call Net 10 to activate the phone. Then buy an airtime card and call or just use the phone to activate it. I have a 'dumb' Net 10 phone. It's easy.
