The listing, MOM'S OLD JEWELRY BOX WITH CARVING AND PICTURE has ended.

Mom's old jewelry box is still in pretty nice condition for its age. Wish I could say the same for myself lol. It is clean inside and out, has two small handles, one on each side, it is also heavily carved on the front and top near the picture as shown in pics 3,4,and 5. On the top is a picture of a home and some trees and inside there is an unbroken mirror.
Time to clear out some of the gatherings so I don't become a hoarder. lol
Nice vintage condition with no major damage anywhere.

Long ago, I had several of these type boxes I collected and I wasn't sure what I was collecting but loved the boxes and intricate detailing of the wood. I had an old man once tell me that back in the 20's-30's or somewhere close that his mother use to buy stationary in these boxes. And he said that is what originally they were...Stationary boxes coming filled with paper, envelopes and pen. I always assumed the old gent knew what he was talking about and I believed his story as he immediately picked one up and told me the story of them. He was like in his 80's back then when he saw them. Now since, I have seen where they are called jewelry boxes and glove boxes even. They are very pretty boxes no matter what they are used for and some are flat on top and some rounded. Made of cedar wood with decoupaged picture. Measurements would be great to help your listing as these were quite roomy boxes and can be locked if needed. Great auction!!

My grandfather got my grandmother one back in the 19 40's and it had candy in it. I have it now and it's the same one you have here. They are very very nice boxes! Fan and watching....
