The phone will work without the data card. A data card just stores a bunch of pictures and videos. It is basically extra memory for your phone. You can buy one for about 20.00.

Hello! Does this take a SIM card? Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable about these phones but am trying to find some kind of good working phone to replace my granddaughter's broken phone so she quits borrowing mine :o) Fanned and watching.

Thanks for such a fast answer! She has her SIM card, so I'm hoping it might work for this. We have the insurance, but it never fails that no matter what happens they want $100 to replace the phone, then you only get a refurbished one, which is what she has now (the first one croaked after less than 3 weeks). Tired of paying the monthly service fee when she hasn't had a phone to use in over 4 months!
